It's been ten years since I saw my brother. I couldn't say any words because my brother had changed a lot .

This grammar is used in conjunction with nouns only, hence the tell-tale の before the noun. The trailing に is also necessary for this grammar, to emphasize the cause-effect relationship between the two clauses it references.

I couldn't find this particular grammar on the internet or in my grammar dictionaries, so if this grammar item has been listed in error, please tell me so as it would greatly assist me, and probably others as well. However, I think that it's important enough to be given a reference separate from the existing あまり grammar reference, as its meaning is fairly different to its parent. Thanks.

This is on page 74 of Shin Kanzen Master N2, so I've changed the JLPT level to 2 for this so it shows up on the list.

I added an example from page 75 of the Shin Kanzen Master N2 Grammar book, and after checking with a native speaker who also speaks good English, the combination of "no amari no henka ni" causes it to mean that the brother had changed a lot, which is why the speaker couldn't find the words.

This is the first example I've added, so I don't know how to make the correct parts turn red to emphasize it. [EDIT] I figured it out :)
