One English translation could be "as it was" (〜ままの状態で)

The expression 涙ながらに〜 "Tearfully", seems different to the existing examples. In this case the meaning is more like "to have".

Can't exactly explain the 涙ながらに examples but they're coming up in multiple textbooks under this entry so I think it's safe to leave it in.
