阿弥陀仏の願い（本願）即ち他力のみに頼り、浄土へ往生することを願う信仰の態度。親鸞以来、悪人正機と並んで浄土真宗における中心的な考え。対義概念は自力。 （1.より転じて）他人任せで自分の望みを叶えようとする事。自分で努力をしないことから否定的な意味合いをもつ。会話等で広く用いられる意味であるが、マスコミ他公共の場においては、この用法は、浄土真宗の思想を誤解させるものとして使用を控えるよう求められる。 Your personal translations
